CRITICAL INCIDENT STRESS DEBRIEF
Critical Incident Stress Debrief. (CISD) Online or face to face within 24 hrs - 48 hrs CISD is a specific, 7 phase, small group, supportive crisis intervention process developed by Jeffrey T Mitchell (2003)
It is one of the crisis intervention techniques which are included under the umbrella of a Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) programme. It is hosted live online or face to face by two qualified hosts with extensive experience in trauma response support.
It is NOT psychotherapy. It is a supportive, crisis-focused discussion of a critical incident.
It aims at reduction of distress and a restoration of group cohesion and unit performance.
CISD is used in the aftermath of a significant traumatic event that has generated strong reactions in the personnel from a particular group of similar people.
